A chiasm is a literary structure where the words or themes of the first section of a passage are repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Matthew 8:2-4, the climax is that Jesus stretched out His hand and touched the leper (Matt 8:3).
