A chiasm is a literary structure where the words of the first section of a passage are repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Matthew 26:6-13, the center is Jesus answering the criticism by the disciples of the woman who anointed Jesus’ head with costly perfume (Matt 26:8-11).
