A chiasm is a literary structure where the words and themes of the first section of a passage are repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Matthew 26:14-25, the climax is Jesus saying, “My (appointed) time is near” (Matt 26:18b).
