A chiasm is a literary structure where the words of the first section of a passage are repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Matthew 24:4-5, the center states that false messiahs will come in Christ’s name “saying, ‘I am the Christ,'” (Matt 24:5a-b).
