A chiasm is a literary structure where the words of the first section of a passage are repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Matthew 22:23-34, the climax is Jesus telling the Sadducees that they did not understand either the Scriptures or the power of God (Matt 22:29).
