The Chiasm of Isaiah 57:18-19
A chiasm is a literary structure where the words of the first section of a passage are repeated in reverse order in the second. Typically whatever is in the center of the chiasm is what is being emphasized. In Isaiah 57:18-19, the center states that God will restore comfort and give peace to those who are both far and near (Isa 57:18b-19a).
