A chiasm is a literary structure where vocabulary of the first section of a passage is repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In 2 Corinthians 8 the center and climax is in discussing the collection for the suffering believers in Jerusalem Paul writes, “At this present time your abundance being a supply also may become a supply for your need” (2 Cor 8:14). for their need, so that their abundance also may become a supply for your need” (2 Cor 8:14).
